I’m planning to run small-group beginner photography classes in Edinburgh, focused on helping people properly understand their cameras and start shooting with confidence.
If you’ve ever felt stuck shooting on Auto, confused by camera settings, or overwhelmed by technical jargon, this class is designed for you.
What the beginner class will cover
This will be a relaxed, practical session covering the core fundamentals of DSLR photography, including:
Aperture & depth of field
Learn how aperture affects light and background blur, and how to use it creatively.
Shutter speed
Understand how to freeze motion or introduce movement into your images.
ISO
Learn how to control light sensitivity without ruining image quality.
Basic composition
Simple techniques to help your photos look more balanced and intentional.
The aim is to make photography feel approachable and enjoyable, while learning the skills to get the pictures you want.
How the classes will work
Small group sizes for plenty of hands-on guidance
Beginner-friendly, no prior experience required
Practical learning rather than long lectures
Suitable for DSLR and mirrorless cameras
Outdoors in Edinburgh (weather permitting)

This doesn’t commit you to anything — it simply helps me plan the classes properly and notify you first when dates are announced.
If you’ve been meaning to learn how your camera really works, this could be the perfect place to start.
