Golden Hour Magic: A Late Afternoon Photoshoot in Stockbridge

Stockbridge, with its charming streets and picturesque scenery, provided the perfect setting for a golden hour photoshoot with Haru from Model Team. The warm evening light brought a dreamy, cinematic quality to the images, enhancing the natural beauty of the surroundings and giving the shoot a timeless feel.

For this session, I used my Fuji X-T2 paired with the Fuji 35mm f/1.2, a lens that allowed me to fully embrace the golden hour glow. The wide aperture helped create stunning subject isolation, making Haru stand out beautifully against the softly blurred backgrounds. The natural light at this time of day is unparalleled—soft, warm, and diffused, lending a flattering tone to skin and adding depth to the overall composition.

We moved through various spots in Stockbridge, making use of the cobbled streets, lush greenery, and historic architecture. As the sun dipped lower, the golden hues became richer, and I experimented with backlighting to create a natural halo effect around Haru. The 35mm focal length was ideal for capturing both environmental portraits and closer shots, keeping a balanced perspective that felt intimate yet expansive.

The versatility of the Fuji 35mm f/1.2 meant I could effortlessly transition from soft, dreamy portraits to sharper, more defined compositions as the light subtly changed.

This shoot was a reminder of why I love golden hour photography. The combination of natural light, a fantastic model, and the right gear all came together to create something truly special. Stockbridge proved to be an ideal backdrop, offering a mix of urban charm and natural beauty that complemented the warm tones of the evening perfectly.
